GVMAX is a proven Google Voice notification service. It has been mentioned on many websites and blogs including LifeHacker. We think it is best to provide you notifications by partnering with a service that has been doing that successfully.
We recommend you give some love to GVMAX by donating to them. After all, they are providing this service free of charge.
Note #1: You need to perform the following steps on a Computer. (But you can have the instructions on your Windows Phone for reference.)
Note #2: If you already have a GVMAX account, you can skip Step 2.
Note #3: The following steps are only applicable to GoVoice 2.0. This setup will not work for previous versions.
The following are the steps to setup GVMAX.
Step 1. Enabling Notification in GoVoice
If you haven’t done so, Open GoVoice on your Windows Phone by opening settings -> notifications, and click “enable notifications”. The app will bring you to this page.
Step 2. Setting up a GVMAX account.
On your computer, go to http://www.gvmax.com, and click “Sign Up” on the top.
GVMAX will ask for your Google Voice email and password. Fill them in and click “Sign Up”.
If you don’t wish to provide y0ur Google password, you can still sign up, but you will need to manually setup the email filters. The instructions can be found here.
A few minutes later, GVMAX should tell you that your account has been set up.
Step 3. Configuring GVMAX to send notifications to GoVoice.
After you have logged into GVMAX, go to “My Account”. Change the “Active Notifiers”.
Check “Send Http Post notifications”, and type the following string below. (Any typo’s will result in notifications not being delivered.)

Then you are done!
Now you can relaunch GoVoice and let it sit for a while to register for the notifications. Then you can send a few texts to yourself to ensure that your notification is delivered to your Windows Phone.
It is simple like that!

Govoice 2.0 Works like a charm… I did know that before this push notification – I had the setting set in google voice for sms/texts to email me sms notifications to gmail account. That way google mail push let me know when I had sms/text messages with the count of the gmail live tile. After Govoice 2.0 live tile was working fine. When i went into Google voice website to uncheck that box for gmail notifications. The GOVoice live tile stopped working. I got around that by keeping that google voice sms to gmail setting checked but created a filter/rule in gmail to archive sms emails. Noticed that gvmax has 2 rules/filters also.
GVMax delivers notifications by forwarding your google voice emails to them. It parses them to understand what they are, and then send it to us. We then deliver that notification to your phone.
If you disable the emails, then you won’t get any notifications at all. GVMax already created rules to skip those emails from going into your inbox, so your inbox shouldn’t be flooded even if you turn on email notifications.
I am receiving the pushed SMS, but it doesn’t make a sound or vibe when it comes in. It also doesn’t publish any type of indicator on the lock screen the way email and the native sms app do. So I have to constantly unlock the phone and look for an indicated number to see if I have any SMS or vmails. Also, the refresh to clear the notification from the icon itself is buggy. I almost always have to refresh twice inside the app, exit, the indication is still there, go back inside the app and refresh again, then exit the app in order to get it to clear. Is this just me? 1. The notification should make a sound if the app is running. If it doesn’t, your phone probably is in vibration mode. (Or maybe if you have not set up GVMax correctly.)
2. There is no way for third party developers to put a token on the lock screen. Period.
3. The count badge on the tile might have a bit of delay. The reason is that it is making a round trip from the app to the server and back again AFTER the app closes. Give it 10 seconds or so it will clear.
